What is #MusicMonday without some Mor Lam? With its origins in Laos, you cannot travel to Isaan without hearing upbeat, fast-paced Mor Lam. This week’s song is Jintara Poonlarp’s (จินตหรา พูนลาภ) – ‘Turtle (เต่างอย)’.

Jintara Poonlarp was born in Roi Et, Thailand, on March 6, 1969

Born in Roi Et, Thailand, in 1969, Tongbai Janlueang is better known by her stage name, Jintara Poonlarp. As a young girl, Poonlarp enjoyed singing and even performed with a Mor Lam theater group in her teenage years. Poonlarp gained attention through her performances in annual singing contests, such as the Khon Kaen Silk Fair. There, she was approached by an employee of a record company who introduced her to his boss, Khun Chai Sribualert, who has been her boss ever since. By February 2008, Poonlarp had released 38 albums.

In 2017, Poonlarp released Turtle (เต่างอย). This was her return back to the music industry after a long break. The song was a quick success, and as of writing this, the song has surpassed 153 million views on YouTube.
