Today I walked to the left.

It’s been nearly 4 months since I moved into my new house, and today I walked to the left for the first time. For context, the main road, my Tessabon, and my schools are all on the right when you turn out of my house, so that’s the direction I usually turn when I need to go, well, anywhere.

But today, I decided to see what was down the other way.

I walked out of my house, and instead of turning right, as I normally do, I turned left.

I was pleasantly surprised to find out that I have 2 small shops next to me, an assortment of other cute establishments (mainly houses), and a most beautiful sunset view. But the best part of it was the quiet and the peace.

Normally, walking out of my house, or anywhere in my town, is met with 101 questions, stares, and just general curiosity or squeals of “Faraang!” Walking this path, however, was quiet. No one shouted at me. No one asked where I was going. No one asked why I was walking (in general). No one asked to walk me back home.

For the first time since being at site I was able to just take a walk, and it was perfect.

It served as a nice reminder that sometimes you need to break away from your daily routine, break away from always going down the same paths you’re used to, and turn left.

Because turning left brings you new sights, sounds, and experiences. It breaks the mold and monotony of your everyday, and you might just find the place where you can walk around peacefully.
