Chaa Thai is a podcast spilling the tea on Peace Corps volunteer life in Thailand! Each episode, hosts Alyssa Strong and Lilly Hromadka interview a current Peace Corps volunteer in Thailand and do a deep dive on their experience at their host site. The tea is that there are as many examples of what service is like for a volunteer in Thailand as there are volunteers — join us as we get a taste!

A hectic turnaround finds us drifting on a lake in the far south of Thailand, pulling up to the beach just a short walk to Taleah’s, a TESS volunteer in Phatthalung. She’s just recovered from a recent illness and a hilarious hospital misadventure, but the welcome is warm and the tea is hot as we join her in the affectionate presence of her host family. With a cozy backdrop of southern rain, Taleah’s blend is straightforward with hints of humour, passion, and a lovely aftertaste of pure heart.
She spills the tea about her goals at site, the dedication with which her community has met her drive, and how she’s found a place for herself at school and at home. Our second kettle reveals the Service Improvement Committee President, a strong leader who stood up to represent her peers, take on the tough conversations, and leave a better service for those who come after us. Grab your favorite cup, find a seat, and tune in to a river of overflowing love with this week’s Chaa Thai!
