Chaa Thai is a podcast spilling the tea on Peace Corps volunteer life in Thailand! Each episode, hosts Alyssa Strong and Lilly Hromadka interview a current Peace Corps volunteer in Thailand and do a deep dive on their experience at their host site. The tea is that there are as many examples of what service is like for a volunteer in Thailand as there are volunteers  join us as we get a taste!

As a monsoon stretches out over Southeast Asia, we seek shelter amid the Khmer temples of Lopburi in Central Thailand. Kiera, a YinD volunteer, guides us to a stunning spot to set up our tea table together, expertly avoiding the dozens of monkeys that give “Monkey City” its name. We watch the rain as we enjoy the chosen bubbly, giggly blend, reminiscing on bright Montana summers, breathtaking community trips to the South, and hilarious misadventures on river floats.

Our kettle brews another batch of sunny happiness that perfectly reflects Kiera, and tea is spilled about the differences in year two versus year one, her tourism and volleyball clubs, and setting up a community effort world mural project. The party snacks are supplied by the stories she shares about bringing Thailand home to the US in snack form, and bringing the US home to Thailand. Splashes of tea land on Sticky Rice, her many visitors, and the large host family happily supplying love and care. Join us at the table for all the softness and smiles found in this week’s Chaa Thai!
