This week’s #MusicMonday song is HYBS (ไฮบ์ส) – “Tip Toe”. HYBS is a Thai indie band made up of two members: Alyn (เจมส์) and Karn (กานต์). They debuted with their English single “Ride” on October 8th, 2021, under JUICEY, a Thai record label. HYBS is known for their groovy basslines and synth-pop songs. They had a significant influence on the Thai indie scene with just one studio album, Making Streak, released in 2022.

James Alyn Wee (เจมส์ อลิน วี) is a Thai-Singaporean singer born in Bangkok, Thailand on August 5th, 1994
Kasidej Hongladaromp (กษิดิ์เดช หงส์ลดารมภ์) widely known as Karn (กานต์) or WIM (วิม; short for Who Is Me?). KARN was born in Bangkok, Thailand, on May 9th, 1997

On June 20, 2023, HYBS released the R&B single “Tip Toe”. “Tip Toe” is a love song with romantic lyrics describing a strong attraction towards someone.

“If you’re in the mood

We can take it to the moon

Just like a movie scene

Table for two

No need to be fed

I want you instead

If you′re in the mood

We can tip toe to the moon”

The song’s music video consisted of the pair appearing on a talk show to promote their new single, “Tip Toe”. The duo is invited to play several games by spinning a wheel. The music video features amusing scenes of the members playing various game product ads. The video perfectly captures the funky vibe of the song with its retro aesthetic and absurd plot.

Unfortunately, the duo disbanded on January 10, 2024, announcing that it was never the members’ intention for HYBS to be a long-term endeavor.

The official news was announced on the band’s official accounts
