Chaa Thai is a podcast spilling the tea on Peace Corps volunteer life in Thailand! Each episode, hosts Alyssa Strong and Lilly Hromadka interview a current Peace Corps volunteer in Thailand and do a deep dive on their experience at their host site. The tea is that there are as many examples of what service is like for a volunteer in Thailand as there are volunteers — join us as we get a taste!

Chaa Thai is back after summer break, with a volunteer who is back after a 20-year break! Introducing our very own Thailand RPCV, Lalo Carter, who originally served in cohort 116! This time, he’s here as a party of two—he and his husband Wade have made their home as TESS volunteers in the central province of Phetchabun- and our hearts!
In addition to dispensing priceless advice to the 23-year-old people-pleasing Alyssa, Lalo discusses the advantages of age and gender in Thai culture, as well as boundaries he’s established with his site upon reflecting on his first service. We learn what has and hasn’t changed since he’s been gone, where he’s focusing his energy during this service, and the direction they’re looking for post-Peace Corps. Join for all this and more on our first episode of the new school year!
